Nonviolent Communication

November 18 2020

As we set off for the holiday break, I invite you to scan your body and see how you are feeling physically and emotionally.  Really listen in to your body.  Our feelings are usually a sign that some need we have is or is not being fulfilled.   The Center for Nonviolent Communication (CNVC) goes into more detail regarding the relationship between feelings, needs, and peaceful communication (Nonviolent Communication) within oneself and with others.

So, if you are experiencing unpleasant feelings, you may have a need that is not being fulfilled.  What is it you are longing for right now?  Are you in need of connection, rest, or predictability?  Whatever the case may be, I encourage you to use this next week to take some time fulfilling any unmet needs and appreciating the feelings associated with needs that have been met.

Here is a list of feelings associated with met and unmet needs.

Here is a list of universal needs shared by all humans.

**** The Center for Nonviolent Communication (CNVC) is a global organization that supports the learning and sharing of Nonviolent Communication (NVC), and helps people peacefully and effectively resolve conflicts in personal, organizational, and political settings.
