About Veronica Sandoval

Who I am

Hello, my name is Veronica Sandoval and I work for Communities in Schools of San Antonio. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor through the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors. I have been providing mental health services for a little over 8 years and have been fully licensed for over 5 years. I have worked with adults, children and adolescents in shelter, private practice, and school settings. I graduated from Texas A&M University- Kingsville with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology in 2012 and then enrolled at Texas Woman’s University-Denton where I received my Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2014. I have been with Communities in Schools of San Antonio for a little over 3 years where I have provided counseling services to students of all ages with high mental health needs in addition to services of wellness coaching to teachers and staff about the mental health needs in their school setting.

My role

In my role as a Social Emotional Wellness Coach and Basecampus Project coordinator my goal is to help you and the school community as a whole understand the mental health needs of students and further implement strategies to increase emotional wellness in the school learning environment. Social, Behavioral, Emotional, and Mental concerns in a student keep them from learning at their fullest potential. Identifying those needs and addressing them appropriately through training and consultations can greatly increase overall academic success. I have listed below a few of the major ways I can support you and how you can benefit from this program.

  • You will be able to strengthen your trauma informed knowledge to increase the learning success of students who are affected by social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs.
  • You will have the opportunity to reengage in teacher wellness by identifying the importance of your well-being and your mental health needs in the classroom.
  • You will have access to tools for advocacy for the emotional well-being of students, teachers, parents, and the school community as a whole.

I am hoping that having access and support from a mental health professional on campus will allow you to focus on academic teaching and feel better equipped in working with students who experience mental health needs.
